Empowering the

The Mission

Better conversations for
brighter futures

Too often, parents, teachers and pupils talk past each other. We translate the language of school, prepare everyone for important conversations, and help young people see their potential.

Our goal is to reduce isolation, build shared understanding, and give everyone involved in a child's education the practical tools they need to succeed.

Clarity

We translate the complex language of the education system into practical, actionable steps for everyone.

Connection

We bridge the gap between home and school, fostering relationships built on trust and mutual respect.

Confidence

We empower parents, teachers, and students to find their voice and advocate for what matters.

People behind the mission

Real educators, real experience — each profile is written in their own words so you know who you are learning alongside.

  1. Nyasha, founder of The Teacher’s Surgery, smiling in a professional portrait.

    Nyasha

    Founder & creator

    Bridging parents and educators

We believe in “us”, not “them”.

Hi, I’m Nyasha, the founder and creator of The Teacher’s Surgery. I have been teaching for a considerable number of years and I have never tired of the profession. I flourish in challenging situations — and when you are working with young people, it is never for the faint-hearted. Whether that has been in a leadership position, in the classroom, or in home tuition, I am ready to get the job done.

I am fully committed to bridging the gap between parents and educators, and that was my inspiration for creating The Teacher’s Surgery: a team of like-minded educators who share the same passion for change.

The Teacher’s Surgery, as a team, is on your side and wants you to know that you are not alone. We believe in the word “us”, not “them”. We are fully dedicated to ensuring that all voices are heard. Community matters to us, so it is imperative that we work together to make education a safer and more effective place. Children and young people are our priority — we understand that a happy parent often leads to a happy child.

  2. Bola, behaviour specialist and SEN learning support assistant, in a burgundy patterned top, smiling.

    Bola

Behaviour specialist & SEN learning support assistant

Sixteen years in schools — merits and all.

The child is always the VIP in every decision.

I’m Bola, a behaviour specialist and SEN learning support assistant with sixteen years of experience — and yes, I have earned my merits along the way. I am passionate about child development and always take a holistic approach: behaviour sits within everything else a young person is navigating, not in isolation.

My approach is simple — the child is always the VIP in every decision. I keep support clear, kind, and a little bit fun, because behaviour support should never feel dull or distant. My mission is to help children and young adults shine, especially when barriers to learning make school feel harder than it should.

  3. Amber, English and media studies teacher, smiling in a portrait photograph.

    Amber

English & media studies teacher · subject leader & head of year

Sixteen years in education — high standards, strong relationships.

    I don’t do average.

I’m Amber, an English and media studies teacher — and no, I don’t do average. With sixteen years in education, I have led as a subject leader and head of year. I am all about high standards, held alongside relationships that feel steady, honest, and human.

Behaviour management is pretty much my middle name: consistent, calm, and in control — I like to think the mum in me helps. I don’t just teach; I connect. I am here to inspire pupils, colleagues, and anyone who wants to grow, because I believe in building people up.

For me, this isn’t just a job. It’s what I love.

  4. Sabeena, assistant principal on The Teacher’s Surgery team, smiling in a portrait photograph.

    Sabeena

Assistant principal · school leadership · standards · systems

Mum of three — properly busy, properly unstoppable.

    I don’t fold — I fight!

I’m Sabeena, an assistant principal — and if you know me, you know I don’t do average. I am all about raising standards, challenging the norm, and making sure young people do not simply “get through” education, but actually win in life.

In between all that, I am a mum of three — properly busy. The kind of busy where you are answering emails, solving problems, and locating missing school shoes. The odds can feel stacked against hustling mums — but I am a Leo. I don’t fold — I fight!

  5. Hakeem, assistant principal, wearing a tan polo shirt and a staff lanyard, smiling in a school setting.

    Hakeem

Assistant principal · behaviour, wellbeing & strength-based practice

Twenty-five-plus years beside pupils — and counting.

I believe in you… but also, let’s make better choices.

I’m Hakeem. I have spent more than twenty-five years supporting pupil behaviour and wellbeing — and yes, I have apparently been upgraded to “growth mindset guru” status along the way.

I specialise in strength-based learning and behavioural communication, helping young people grow into more resilient, positive versions of themselves — without losing who they already are.

I bring care, humour, and just enough side-eye to say, “I believe in you… but also, let’s make better choices.”

  6. Danielle, smiling, wearing a black top and jacket in a warmly lit hallway.

    Danielle

Adult learning · experience design · facilitation

Essex-born — adult education with mischief and heart.

    “Maybe later” becomes “let’s go.”

I’m Danielle — Essex-born and powered by pure educational mischief. I create learning experiences that push adults to think bigger and braver.

I turn confusion into clarity and “maybe later” into “let’s go.” Adult education is my playground, my passion, and my favourite way to help people rewrite what they believe they can do.

  7. Des Is Conscious, a Black man with vitiligo, wearing a black hoodie, looking towards the camera in a professional portrait.

    Des Is Conscious

Host · presenter · event promoter · Vitiligo ambassador

Engaging spaces through entertainment, conversation, and live experiences.

Authenticity will take you places pretending never could.

I’m a charismatic host and presenter, passionate about creating engaging spaces through entertainment, conversation, and live experiences.

I use authenticity, humour, and storytelling to connect with audiences, while championing confidence and representation through my journey with vitiligo.

  8. Ryma, Head of KS4 English, wearing a black roll-neck top, smiling, with green plants softly visible behind her.

    Ryma

Head of KS4 English · teacher of English

Ten years teaching English · three years leading KS4.

Helping young people achieve outcomes that open doors — and create opportunities that may otherwise feel out of reach.

I have been teaching English for the past ten years, and I currently work as Head of KS4 English — a role I have held for the last three years. I am passionate about teaching and learning, particularly the development and training of other practitioners, and helping teachers refine their craft.

A big part of why I teach is my desire to help young people achieve outcomes that open doors and create opportunities that may otherwise feel out of reach. I enjoy having honest, reflective conversations about education, and sharing ideas that can positively impact both students and staff.

  9. Adnan, smiling, holding a British Schools Overseas inspection handbook, in a black collared shirt with a bright window and water behind him.

    Adnan

Deputy Group Director of Business · global educator · international inspector

Father of three — business and negotiation skills tested daily at bedtime, snacks, and screen time.

Trust, consistency, relationships, and feeling safe can completely change a young person’s journey.

Hi, I’m Adnan — Deputy Group Director of Business, a global award-winning educator, a trained international inspector, and proud father of three, where my business and negotiation skills are tested daily over bedtime, snacks, and screen time.

I am passionate about creating genuine change in young people’s futures and being a positive role model for the next generation. I bring a trauma-informed lens to education — recognising that behaviour is often rooted in lived experiences, and that trust, consistency, relationships, and feeling safe can completely change a young person’s journey.

Alongside that, I bring honesty, humour, high standards, and probably a spreadsheet for everything.
